Operating Room

Once the hospital was put into operation, the first operation was performed in this unit on March 3, 2001 by Professor Sadeghi in the presence of some open heart surgery specialists of Mashhad. The area of this unit is 350 square meters, with 3 operating rooms of 50 square meters size each. By the air handling system, these operating rooms move positive air flow from inside to outside, and the HEPA air filter is replaced every two months.

Various operations which are performed in this center include: DTGA, MID CAB, MVR, AVR, TVR, Bental, ASD, ROSS Operation, PAPVC, VSD, CABGS, OPCAB, TAPVC, pulmonary and aorta transposition, (Truncus Anomalous) homograft. Using human organ bank such operations are performed in both day and night shifts. The night shift is on an on-call basis.

On average, 150 operations per month are performed in this unit (Daily 6 active operations excluding emergency surgeries).

Medical staff of the operating room includes 3 surgeons, 25 registered nurses including anesthetics, scrub, pump; one secretary and 4 nursing assistants and servants.

In view of the history of heart operations, it can be observed that over time, quality and quantity of such operations are steadily improving so that death from them has significantly decreased. In this center, congenital heart surgery for babies also is made by one of the well-known surgeons of Mashhad.

The morbidity and mortality rate of heart surgeries in this center is equivalent in level to the standards of the best health centers of the world. This is very significant and valuable.

This unit is located at the first floor of the hospital.
